Finally got my shelves up at set of double windows in kitchen. I've got Sweet Potato, onion, celery, lettuce, garlic, carrots, herbs, a cactus and a sick geranium. I'm very pleased and excited ,too.Growing and gardening is such an integral part of who I am that come winter if I don't have something growing I'm out of kilter.
I used scroll brackets because they are decorative and when the weather warms just a bit the shelves will be painted a white gloss, to be cheery, clean and water repellent. It's a must that the shelf surface be wipeable since it's holding plants, both in rock and in soil, and they are watered. I have plates and spill bottoms for them all, but just in case. Plus, a kitchen surface gets greasy if not wiped thoroughly and often.
Now to make different curtain valances!
